Countries need to invest more public resources in health, particularly primary health care, to address the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, increase resilience for the future and make further progress towards universal health coverage. Yet the economic effects of COVID-19 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine mean that many LMICs are unlikely to be able to raise additional public resources for health in the short term.
LHSS works with ministries of health to improve efficiency and reach more people with essential health services and financial protection.
