Summary: Guide for Regional Level Implementation of the Health Technical Norm for the Prevention and Case Management of Patients Affected by Mpox
The English Summary for this report described the purpose of this guide which is to facilitate the implementation of Technical Health Standard N°191-MINSA/DGIESP-2022 for the prevention and management of patients affected by Mpox at the subnational level. This operational guide aims to ensure the effective implementation of the provisions established in the technical standard, to benefit the affected population and ensure access to appropriate services. The disease caused by the simian smallpox virus (Mpox) mainly impacts at-risk populations, especially men who have sex with men. The guide addresses the relationship between sexual behavior and infection, as well as opportunities for improvement in program management for the prevention and control of HIV in the context of the Mpox epidemic. The decrease in the global and regional outbreak, as well as the implementation of measures and epidemiological alerts by the Ministry of Health (MINSA) of Peru, reflect the importance of an efficient response to emerging health issues.
