Health Systems Strengthening in the COVID-19 Response
Health systems worldwide were severely tested under the strain of COVID-19 and its associated health system disruptions. LHSS supported USAID’s global fight against COVID-19 – while building countries’ long-term resilience. We assisted governments with immediate prevention, detection, and case management and later supported vaccination roll-out and health communications to combat misinformation, all while laying the groundwork for recovery and improved resilience to future shocks.

With investment of nearly $60 million, LHSS supported USAID's COVID-19 response in 11 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia, between March 2020 and September 2023.
The assessment findings inform the MoHSPP and its international partners on interventions to improve the quality of vaccination services, not only for COVID-19 but beyond. This ultimately leads to increased access to improved services in Tajikistan.
